Meet your childminder!

Hi, I’m Serena! I’m the heart behind Little Hill Childminding, and I’m so excited to welcome you into my colourful, playful home where children can learn, grow, and truly be themselves.

When I was in school, I loved sports, so in my final year I decided to do a sports coaching course. I really enjoyed leading activities—badminton, basketball, netball—and helping out at sports day events across several primary schools. It was through these experiences, seeing children learn, have fun, and grow, that I realised working with young children was truly my passion.

I went on to work in a few different nurseries in Glasgow, gaining valuable hands-on experience with children aged 0-5years. During this time, I completed an apprenticeship, which led to my SVQ Level 3 in Social Services (Children and Young People) in 2017. I started my Level 4 just before going on maternity leave to have my first daughter, and I successfully gained my SVQ Level 4 in Social Services (Children and Young People) in 2023, which deepened my knowledge of early years leadership and management.

After moving to the Borders to raise my two beautiful daughters, aged 4 and 2, I decided to bring my skills and experience into my own childminding setting. I’m committed to creating a warm, colourful, and playful environment where children can explore, learn, and grow at their own pace. Within the first six months of opening, I’ll also be completing my food hygiene and first aid qualifications to ensure the highest standards of safety and care.

I’m so excited to bring my passion, experience, and professional knowledge to Little Hill Childminding, supporting every child’s unique journey with fun, creativity, and care.

A world of outdoor discovery

At Little Hill, every day is full of curiosity, discovery, and adventure. With a large garden perfect for nature-based activities and direct access to nearby woods, children are encouraged to explore, collect natural materials, and engage in creative play. I’m currently building a summer house dedicated to creative, hands-on learning. We love park play and spending time outdoors, ensuring a warm, welcoming, and joyful atmosphere where learning happens naturally through hands-on exploration and movement.

Meet our family dog, Jax!

Say hello to Jax, our lively and lovable Border Collie! He’s full of energy and loves being around the children, adding a bit of extra fun to our days. Sometimes he goes to his personal spot in the house so we can focus on activities, and we also have a pet-free zone in the garden for uninterrupted outdoor play. children are always supervised around the dog, and parents are more than welcome to meet him!
